Did
You Know?
| Rene
Cailliet, M.D, Director of the Department of Physical Medicine
and Rehabilitation at the University of Southern California,
wrote about the effects of forward head syndrome (aka poor
posture):
•
Incorrect head positioning leads to improper spinal function
• The head in forward posture can add up to 30 lbs of
abnormal leverage on the cervical spine
• Forward head posture results in loss of vital lung
capacity. In fact, lung capacity is depleted by as much as
30%. Loss of lung capacity leads to heart and blood vascular
problems.
• The entire gastrointestinal system is affected, particularly
the large intestine.
In
a recent study by Ronald Pero, Ph.D., the Chief of
Cancer Prevention Research at New York's Preventative Medicine
Institute, patients who had been diagnosed with a
serious illness and were under long-term chiropractic care
had a 400% greater immune competence than people who were
not under chiropractic care. In addition he charted the immune
responses of 107 patients, who were given long-term chiropractic
adjustments to discover a startling 200% increase in their
level of immune system competence compared to those who were
not under chiropractic care.
Chronic
Use of NSAIDs Results in Small Intestine Injury
•
According to a recent study, 71% of chronic users of non-steroidal,
ant-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) can expect to experience some
level of injury to their small intestines.
The
class of NSAIDs includes a variety of commonly used over the
counter medications, particularly aspirin (Anacin, Bayer,
Bufferin, Excedrin, etc), ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, Nuprin)
and Naproxen Sodium (Aleve).

"...for
the management of low back pain, chiropractic care is the
most effective treatment, and it should be fully integrated
into
the government's health care system."
The Manga Report (1993)
"Cervical
spine manipulation was associated with significant improvement
in headache outcomes in trials involving patients with neck
pain and/or neck dysfunction and headache."
Duke Evidence Report, McCrory,
Penzlen, Hasselblad, Gray (2001)
In
the July 26th, 2000 issue of the Journal of American Medical
Association (Vol. 284, No.4) Barbara Starfield, MD
MPH of Department of Health Policy and Management, Johns Hopkins
School of Hygiene and
Public Health, talks about the deficiencies of US
medical care:
•
"The US population does not have anywhere near the
best health in the world. Of the 13 countries in a recent
comparison, the United States ranks an average of 12th (second
from the bottom for the 16 available health indicators."
What has been found to be the major contributor to the excessively
poor health of Americans is the health care system itself.
